English Walled Garden
By Scott Byron & Co., Inc.
Designed in collaboration with noted English landscape designer John Brookes but installed exclusively by us, the English Walled Garden includes six garden rooms surrounded by boundaries made of stone, brick, hedges, and trees. Each room has a unique name and distinct features; they are affectionately titled: Vista Garden, Formal Daisy Garden, Courtyard Garden, Cottage Garden, Checkerboard Garden, and Pergola Garden. Also, each room represents a variety of English gardening styles throughout history - with the Vista Garden paying homage to the famous garden at Great Dixter in Sussex, England - while featuring plants that are best for the prairie landscape of Illinois. The client wanted visitors to feel as if they were transported to a 19th-Century English manor and took a stroll through the formal gardens.
