Holidays at the Hancock Center

By Landscape Concepts Management

The project includes the delivery and installation of (1) 45’ tall Concolor fir and (10) 12’ tall Fraser firs at The Hancock Center. A crane lowers the taller tree down into the building’s sunken courtyard. Then, the tree’s stand is packed tight with logs and further cable attachments are tied on four sides to provide support and ensure that the tree will stand tall against all harsh Chicago winds. Next, a boom lift is used to trim all the deadwood, which is hauled off site for proper disposal. The larger tree is strung with 60,000 LED lights and each smaller tree receives 2,400 LED lights to glow throughout the evenings of the holiday season. The lights and trees are maintained in the early hours of the morning, helping to keep the display looking its best for all of Chicago’s pedestrians to enjoy throughout the Magnificent Mile Festival of Lights!
