Madison Greenhouse

By Scott Byron & Co., Inc.

The Madison Greenhouse has four distinct areas, all characterized by their classical, formal, geometric arrangement. In the front motor court, a sunken, walled, lower garden, reminiscent of Great Dixter, creates a strong axial view linking the motor court, front walk, sunken garden, and the fruit tree alleé. Finally, a formal perimeter hedge was constructed to visually connect the gardens to the natural north lawn. Finally, we end at the grand south garden with its park - like feel due to its many open lawn areas. The terrace completes the south garden with its walls, steps, and various perennial gardens while providing a commanding view of the yard. All the gardens of the Madison Greenhouse combine to ensure the client’s goal of keeping the romantic, pastoral garden setting using flowering trees, shrubs, and perennials to create seasonal beauty and interest while also considering locations for a vegetable, cutting, and rose garden.
