Poetry in Water

By Reflections Water Gardens

Inspired by the “Poet of the Prairie” and surrounded by native grasses and hardy perennials, the geography and architecture of this sophisticated 419-linear-foot meandering stream is at once playful, peaceful and picturesque. It begins with a dry bed tucked beneath a footbridge at the front of the north suburban Chicago home. The water journey also begins here, under the bridge, then flows along the front of the house, wraps around the side yard and meanders under iron gates held in place by stone pillars. Throughout its journey, water tumbles over weathered limestone falls, spills around rocks and dances with boulders seemingly placed by the hands of Mother Nature. Now under the gates, water meets the shore as it completes its destination in a lined 5,000-square-foot natural pond. The homeowners’ legacy for their family - this is a Jens Jensen-style experience that will certainly be valued and treasured by generations to come.
